Meet your site coordinator

Courtney Claytor is the site coordinator at Liberty Elementary School. She runs the reading center and will be your go-to source for any questions you may have during your time as a reading partner. She is always available during your tutoring session to share tips and tricks, review lessons, and help keep your student on track.

Courtney Claytor

AmeriCorps Site Coordinator for Liberty Elementary School
Courtney loves Reading Partners: from the organization's mission to empower communities to help children become lifelong readers to the nifty orange lanyards. She is delighted to serve a second AmeriCorps year at Liberty Elementary School because she has seen first-hand the incredible difference that Reading Partners makes in the lives of both students and tutors. Her goal this year is to work closely with her exceptional volunteers to support student success. Her favorite book in the reading center is Amazing Grace and she loves convincing students to give poetry a try!

Martin Widmann

AmeriCorps Literacy Lead for Liberty Elementary School
Marty is excited to be a Literacy Lead at Liberty Elementary School this year and is determined to help his students improve their reading skills. Marty plans on working closely with Courtney, Liberty staff, and Reading Partners staff in order to achieve the best results with his students. His favorite book in the reading center is Cats Sleep Anywhere, which he plans on reading to anyone who enters the reading center.

Meet the Reading Partners team

Alexis Bond

Regional Site Coordinator for Baltimore
After serving my first AmeriCorps term with Reading Partners Baltimore as a Site Coordinator, I’m very happy to be able to help more of the city this year as a Regional Site Coordinator. I will be travelling between 5 of our Reading Partners schools in order to support the Site Coordinators, Literacy Leads, and our volunteer tutors. While you might not see me every time you are in the center, know that when I’m here, I’m here to help! After receiving a BA in English from Haverford College, Pennsylvania and an MA in Medieval Literatures from The University of York, UK, I knew I needed to come back to my hometown of Baltimore. I’m glad to have found Reading Partners and proud to work with such passionate individuals as we strive to get our students reading proficiently for 4th grade and beyond.

Kendra Padilla

Program Manager for Baltimore
An avid reader as a child, Kendra brought her love of reading to teaching students in a variety of educational settings for over 10 years before joining Reading Partners. Most recently, Kendra spent five years teaching third grade in Baltimore City at an Expeditionary Learning charter school, working as literacy lead for three years. She has extensive experience designing curriculum that incorporates literacy skills into science and social studies lessons in project-based learning environments. As a former AmeriCorps member with Citizen Schools, Kendra is passionate about bringing community volunteers into schools. Kendra earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Williams College and then earned her master’s degree in education from Lesley University.
